NOTES

My string trio is a very sentimental piece for me. At the time of writing String Trio I had a string quartet that I had been playing with for a number of years, the members of which had become very close friends, and this piece is dedicated to our first violinist. As is true with all of my music, I wrote music that I wanted to play, music that I knew would be fun to work on, challenging, and rewarding when we were finally able to perform it. String Trio is filled with quirky melodies, exciting rhythms and textures. In retrospect I think the piece really captures the personalities of the people it was originally written for as well as the energy of the American midwest, and the central Illinoisian pace of life. The writing is suitable for advanced younger players and professionals alike.
