The Next One is Always a Beacon (2)

NOTES

The Next One is Always a Beacon (2) comes from the same place as TNOAB(1). These two pieces were written concurrently, something I often do to help delegate different musical ideas that come while writing. The pieces are complimentary, but this doesn’t mean they are opposites. They share material in a way that isn’t immediately noticeable and so retain their own unique emotions. TNOAB(2) is monothematic. The melodic theme is gradually exposed and grows from the opening string harmonic sequence. While this piece’s overall character embraces the same optimism as its counterpart, TNOAB(2) takes a slightly more realistic approach towards experiencing everyday conflicts. The distinction of the pianist’s role becomes more blurred in this piece, furthering the autobiographical allegory.
