Trying To Save a Burning Picnic is the first piece in a collaborative composition exchange project. In December of 2021 I made a collaborative call for scores on composersforum.org. The call was asking composers to submit pieces written for cello to be considered for performance, recording, and inclusion in an article written about their piece recommending it to other cellists on The Hong Kong Cellist Society’s website. In exchange, the chosen composer will perform a piece I have written for them. This call for scores has resulted in many collaborations so far and is an on-going open call. Trying To Save a Burning Picnic is a dark comedy where the clarinetist is the star of the action.
