NOTES

Some might struggle to find a connection between the words in the subtitles of each movement, and yet others might find that these perfectly describe the music. If you are a creator then it should be enough to simply tell you that I thought of each element and created the music for each one; let them co-mingle for a while, and wrote down what I heard them saying. For those who need help understanding this quirk of composition I offer the following description:

Glass sounds like 4 tightly vibrating sine waves each approximately a perfect fourth apart. Unless of course the glass is quite thick in which case the intervals expand ever so slightly to encompass an augmented fourth. Metal in fact has a similar sound to glass, just with fewer variations in density. Dust, wood, rock, and dirt are really just variations upon themselves. None of them are particularly comfortable to sleep on; they sound one-dimensional. Which is to say, they can form lovely foundations upon which to build aural ‘abodes.’

Clouds, water and pride are also closely related. They all sound calm, tranquil, and reassuring one moment and the next, they can completely change into frightening nightmares of themselves.

Lust is a major 7th.

Static is the sound of a cymbal after it is struck.

These various sounds shift and shape musical atmospheres. There are chords and clusters, melodies and anti-melodies. From this emerges a new consonance.
